Current Situation:
• If you are vaccinated and boosted, you may still get COVID-19, but you are highly protected against severe illness and death. Keeping up with booster shots allows us to enjoy the freedoms of our daily lives -- and keeps our local health care system working when we need it.
• The CDC recommends that people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine get a Pfizer or Moderna booster. Those who got a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are advised to get the same booster as their initial vaccine. However, CDC guidance says it is safe to “mix and match” (i.e., get a different COVID-19 booster than your initial vaccine), depending on preference or availability. Youth ages 12 to 17 remain eligible only for a Pfizer vaccine and booster.
• This report includes a weekly update to Shasta County’s total case numbers. Investigations are conducted to verify that cases meet state reporting requirements. Duplicate, out-of-county, and probable cases are removed. Probable cases include people who tested positive on an antigen test and those with reported symptoms but no confirmed PCR test.
If you’ve been exposed: Follow the isolation/quarantine instructions until you can be tested and receive test results.
