We are sorry to report 3 deaths today. They were a woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s, and a woman in her 80s.
The third dose is not a booster shot. A third dose of Pfizer/Comirnaty or Moderna is recommended for immunocompromised people who may not have had a strong enough immune response after receiving the initial vaccine series. A booster shot is an additional vaccine dose needed to “boost” protection against disease, as immunity wanes in the months after receiving the initial vaccine series, Booster shots are still in the process of receiving federal approval.
Today’s report includes an update to Shasta County's total case numbers. Investigations are conducted to verify that cases meet state reporting requirements. Duplicate, out-of-county, and probable cases are removed. Probable cases include antigen positive respiratory samples, as well as those with reported symptoms and no confirmed lab test.
