Current Situation:
- HHSA released the second of a two-part video series called Ask the Experts, which features nine local doctors answering community members’ questions about COVID-19. Part 2 discusses treatments, pregnancy, masking and how the virus affects children. The 30-minute videos connect community members with medical professionals and answer questions about COVID-19. They can be found on the agency’s social media channels and on ShastaReady.org.
- There is currently no evidence that vaccine ingredients or antibodies made following a COVID-19 vaccination cause fertility issues now or in the future. According to the CDC, researchers across eight health systems followed more than 40,000 pregnant people who were vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. No safety concerns were identified. Like with all vaccines, scientists continue to study the COVID-19 vaccines carefully for side effects and report findings as they become available. The CDC recommends the COVID-19 vaccination for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now or might become pregnant in the future. Learn more about COVID-19 vaccines while pregnant or breastfeeding or for people who would like to have a baby.
