Current Situation:
- The LHI testing site at the Boggs Building on Breslauer Way will be closed all day Tuesday (Feb. 1), and until 1 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 2) due to the special election. You can find other testing options at ShastaReady.org.
- What can I do to prepare in case someone in my household gets COVID? While the best preparation is preventing illness in the first place, there are other things you can do to be prepared, such as knowing where and how to access testing, having a plan for quarantine and isolation, and understanding your employer's sick leave policy. Read more about how to prepare for COVID.
- Shasta County schools have been working hard to keep classrooms open during COVID-19. California recently adopted a “group contact tracing” option, which allows for quicker and broader responses to cases identified in schools. Many Shasta County schools are now using this. “Group contacts” are individuals who have spent 15 minutes within a 24-hour period in the same shared space as a person who has COVID-19. This may be a classroom, cafeteria, bus, extracurricular activity, etc. If your child is a group contact in a shared space, the school will notify you and let you know what to do. Most importantly, watch for symptoms and keep your student at home if sick. It is recommended that exposed students participate in testing, continue to attend school, and participate in all aspects of education, including extracurricular activities and sports, unless symptoms develop.
If you’ve been exposed: Follow the isolation/quarantine instructions until you can be tested and receive test results.
If you need to be tested: Find options on the Get Tested page. Please note: Appointments are required at most places due to high demand.
If you need a vaccine: Find options at ShastaReady.org.
