Current Situation:
- We are sorry to report 11 deaths today. They were a woman in her 40s, a woman and a man in their 50s, 2 men in their 60s, 2 women and a man in their 70s, and 2 women and a man over age 89. Please note, today is when these deaths were confirmed and may be days or weeks after the people died.
- The LHI testing site at the Boggs Building on Breslauer Way will be closed after 1:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 31), all day Tuesday (Feb. 1), and until 1 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 2) due to the special election. You can find other testing options at ShastaReady.org.
- If you are pregnant or were recently pregnant, you are more likely to get severely ill from COVID-19. Pregnancy causes changes in the body that could make it easier to get very sick from respiratory viruses such as the one that causes COVID-19. These changes in the body can continue after pregnancy. People who are pregnant should talk to their doctor about the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine, and should also take other precautions to avoid infection, including wearing a well-fitting mask, physical distancing, avoiding crowds and washing hands frequently.
