What is a Law Enforcement Explorer?

  • An Explorer post is associated with the police or sheriff agency, Learning for Life, and the Boy Scouts of America
  • Explorers receive hands-on training in domestic violence, hostage negotiation, traffic stops, traffic collisions, use of force, CPR/First Aid, and many other topics

Benefits of Being a Law Enforcement Explorer

  • Volunteer and serve in your community/county at public events; such as parades and celebrations or fairs
  • Receive early training and education on what it takes to be a law enforcement officer

Requirements to be an Explorer

  • Must be 14-21 years of age
  • Have a clean juvenile record
  • Must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in school.
  • Three qualities that all Explorers should strive for in the law enforcement profession are truth, knowledge, and integrity
  • Possess the qualities of honesty, maturity, self-discipline and initiative
  • Have a desire to learn
  • Make a commitment to volunteer time to serve the agency and community
