Welcome to the Citizen Online Police Reporting System for the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

This system allows you to submit a non-emergency crime report electronically and receive an email copy for free (email address is required).

In order to qualify for online reporting, the incident must meet ALL of the following criteria. If you do not receive any pop-up notifications when answering the following questions then you meet the required criteria and may proceed with filing a report online.

What are the hours of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office?
The Sheriff's main office is located at 300 Park Marina Circle is open Monday – Thursday 8:00AM-5:00PM.
The City of Shasta Lake office is located at 1650 Stanton Dr. Shasta Lake, Ca and is open Monday – Thursday 7:30AM -4:30PM

What if I prefer to speak to a deputy?
If, at anytime, you feel that you would rather report this to an deputy, please discontinue using this system and call 530-245-6540

What do I do if online incident reporting is not right for me?
If your incident is an emergency, call 911. If non-emergency call 530-245-6540

What if this happened in another location can I file a report using this system?
No, if a crime took place outside the City of Shasta Lake or the unincorporated area of Shasta County please call the department for that location.

What if this happened on a state Freeway?
If this incident took place on a state Freeway please call the California Highway Patrol Office at (530) 242-3210.

What is a known suspect?
A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime or the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in.

What if I don't have an email address?
If you don’t have a valid email address where you can send and receive email, you can sign up for a free account at many sites including Yahoo, Google, and MSN. Otherwise, please call 530-245-6540 to contact a deputy.

Using this internet police reporting system you will be able to report the incident without waiting and print a copy of the report for free. If you are the victim of identity theft or fraud please get and keep all papers, receipts, cancelled checks, mail from companies, etc. related to this crime. We may contact you to get these items if needed and you should keep copies for your records.

There are some groups you should get in touch with if you are the victim of identity theft or fraud, some will ask for the report number you get at the end of this online police report process.

Helpful Tips:

  • Protect your social security number and only give it out when required by law.
  • No bank, auction site or other business should send you an email asking you to enter credit card information, passwords, social security numbers or other personal information. Often these fake emails will contain links to pages that look real but are not. If you suspect you are being directed to a fake site please go to the actual home web site of the company and inform them of what has happened.
  • Avoid mail theft by obtaining a locked mailbox and dropping off outgoing mail at the local post office or postal mailbox.
  • Do not give out your personal information or credit card number over the phone unless you initiated the call.
  • Shred credit card offers and bank statements before you throw them away if you do not plan on using them.

Upon completion of the report process, you will:

  • See the words "Your online police report has been submitted". This will indicate that your police report is complete.
  • Be given a temporary police report number.
  • Be able to print a copy of the police report to keep for your records.

All cases filed using the Citizens' Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed. If further investigation of your case is required, you may be contacted. Once the report has been approved, it will be issued a permanent police case number and a copy will be emailed to you (email address required). All future correspondence should include the permanent case number. Please allow up to five (5) business days (excluding holidays) for your report to be reviewed.

Note: It is a crime to knowingly file a false police report. Any intentionally false information, misstatement or inaccuracy may result in criminal prosecution. Penal Code section 148.5.(a) states: Every person who reports to any peace officer listed in Section 830.1 or 830.2 or subdivision (a) of Section 830.33, district attorney, or deputy district attorney that a felony or misdemeanor has been committed, knowing the report to be false, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
