The Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program of the Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency administers the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program in Shasta County.
What is the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)?
CPSP is a comprehensive program which provides a wide range of culturally competent services to pregnant women, from conception through 60 days postpartum. In addition to standard obstetric services, women receive enhanced services in the areas of nutrition, psychosocial and health education. This approach has shown to reduce both low birth weight rates and health care costs in women and infants.
Goals of the program
