Shasta County reports 216 covid-19 cases in a single day as schools face closures 09/01/2021

Shasta County health officials recorded 216 positive COVID-19 cases in a single day Wednesday. The new record-high comes as the county is also seeing a record-high in ICU admissions.

There are 87 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 26 in the ICU. More than 25% of the cases reported Wednesday were in children between the ages of five and 17.
