Shasta County breaks covid-19 icu and hospitalization records 08/23/2021

Shasta County Public Health announces record high ICU admissions and hospitalizations Monday.

As of Sunday, 84 people are in the hospital with COVID-19 and 20 people are currently in the ICU. The previous record was set on Thursday at 75 for hospitalizations and the same day for ICU admissions at 18.

Currently, there is also a rise in COVID-19 cases among people 12 and under in Shasta County. In the past 30 days, 134 people under 12 years old have tested positive for COVID-19. The 30 days previous saw only 13 cases of positive COVID-19 tests.
