REPLACEMENT FOOD BENEFITS AVAILABLE FOR SHASTA COUNTY RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY SNOWSTORM

Winter Storm SundialSHASTA COUNTY –  People who receive CalFresh and lost food during the snowstorm-caused power outages in Shasta County may be eligible to receive replacement benefits.

People who lived in certain ZIP codes at the time of the outages will automatically receive an additional 30 percent of their normal CalFresh benefits on their EBT card by March 1, 2019. They will not need to contact their local Health and Human Services Agency to receive this benefit. Those ZIP codes are 96002, 96003, 96007, 96008, 96011, 96019, 96022, 96033, 96047, 96051, 96059, 96062, 96065, 96069, 96073, 96084, 96087, 96088 and 96096.

CalFresh families who live in the 96001 ZIP code still need to come to a Shasta County regional office to apply: 1220 Sacramento St., Redding; 2757 Churn Creek Road, Redding; 2889 E. Center St., Anderson; 4216 Shasta Dam Blvd., Shasta Lake City; and 36911 Main St., Burney.

People who lost more than 30 percent of their monthly CalFresh benefit amount can apply for more, but replacement benefits cannot be more than the maximum monthly allotment for the household.

Replacement benefit applications are being accepted through March 14, 2019 at the above-listed offices.
