Record Searchlight: HHSA Welcomes a New Health Officer

Karen RamstromFrom the Record Searchlight: Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency has a new health officer. Dr. Karen Ramstrom's first official day on the job was Oct. 14. A military veteran, Ramstrom had been serving in an interim capacity since late July.

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors appointed Ramstrom to the position on Sept. 18, following the retirement of Dr. Andrew Deckert, the county's previous health officer, earlier this year.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve as health officer and be a part of this beautiful community where I have visited family for many years," said Ramstrom. Her brother, who runs general contractor Steelhead Constructors Inc., and her parents, who are retired, live in the area, she said.
