Press Release: Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board Invites Applicants

SHASTA COUNTY – The Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board (MHADAB) is recruiting for new members. The MHADAB provides oversight of the local mental health system and alcohol and drug programs, and is composed of community members, individuals with mental illness or drug and alcohol addictions, and family members of people living with mental illness or drug and alcohol addictions.

Applicants must live within Shasta County and be available on the first Wednesday of every other month at 5:15 p.m. Interested candidates or people with questions may call Teri Linson at 229-8062 for an application, or they can download one from the Health and Human Services Agency website. 

Generally, MHADAB members, their immediate family or their spouses/registered domestic partners can’t be full- or part-time employees of Health and Human Services Agency. MHADAB members also can't be an employee of, or a paid member of the governing body of, any agency that contracts with HHSA.

However, there are exceptions. HHSA employees or employees of contracted organizations can be eligible to join the board if they have experience accessing mental health services and have no authority over financial matters at their place of work.
