Local leaders give updates on the covid-19 situation in Shasta County 10/06/2021

Published October 7, 2021

Shasta Community Center lost 40 of its 500 employees after California's vaccine mandate went into effect.

Although some people have walked off the job at the community center, C.O.O. Brandon Thornock says of the people that left, 83% are fully vaccinated, and 17% either have a medical or religious type of exemption. Since then, the hospital has seen an increase in people coming in to get tested for COVID-19.

“We’re still screening and testing about 60 patients per day, and we are still seeing about a 10% positivity rate of those 60 patients we are trying," Thornock said.
