Efforts to completely reopen Shasta County get boost 08-25-2020

Published August 28, 2020

Efforts to reopen more of Shasta County’s economy have been buoyed by a letter from California’s health secretary that says revisions on rules for reopening are in the works.

The relief can't come soon enough for Shasta County supervisors, who got another earful from frustrated and angry residents at their meeting Tuesday.

Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly, in a letter to board chairwoman Mary Rickert, said the state is reassessing guidance and public health orders amid the COVID-19 pandemic “in light of evolving scientific evidence regarding disease transmission and the risk of transmission in different settings.”
