March 19, 2020 -- The Butte County Superintendent of Schools announced all schools in the county to be closed through April 17. (Butte County Public Health Officer Andy Miller says he is "pleasantly surprised" there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in the county thus far.)

March 21, 2020 -- The first resident of Butte County is confirmed with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The person is described as 65 years old with a chronic medical condition.
