Published November 19, 2021

California has a positivity rate for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection of 9%, but over the weekend the positivity rate in Redding was about 40%.

The virus is not uncommon and causes common cold-like symptoms, but it can be extremely dangerous for infants and elderly age groups. Lab director Dean Moyer said at Mercy Medical Center the number have come down since the weekend but they saw the 40% positivity rate there.
