SHASTA No SmokingShasta County Smoking Ordinance

SCC Ch 8.45: This ordinance prohibits smoking in workplaces, enclosed public places, and within 20 feet of stadium seating. These laws apply to all Shasta County municipalities, including Redding, Anderson, and Shasta Lake.

California Tobacco Age 21 Law

On June 9, 2016, a law signed by the Gov. Jerry Brown went into effect, raising the minimum age of sale for tobacco products from 18 to 21. This law bans the selling or furnishing of tobacco products or paraphernalia, including electronic smoking devices to anyone under 21 except for active duty military personnel in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Mandatory Signs for Retailers

Stop Tobacco Access to Kids Enforcement Act (STAKE) SIGN: This age of sale warning sign is required by state law to be visible at EACH point of sale (CA B&P 22952)

No Smoking Signs: Signs saying "No Smoking" or displaying the international "No Smoking" symbol (consisting of a pictorial representation of a cigarette enclosed in a red circle with a red bar across it) shall be clearly, sufficiently, and conspicuously posted in every building or other place where smoking is prohibited. SCC 8.45.080

Anderson amphitheaterAnderson Parks, Entryways & Community Events 

AMC Chapter 9.38.250: This ordinance and resolution prohibits smoking at all community events, Volonte Park, Veterans Walk of Honor, Anderson Teen Center and within 20' of business entrances.

 

 

Redding libraryRedding Library

RMC Chapter 2.42.120: Smoking is prohibited on the Redding Library campus including the building, patios, landscaped grounds, parking lots and roof.

 

 

Redding ParksRedding Parks

RMC Chapters 2.56.080 & 10.20.080: Smoking is prohibited in all park facilities. Park facilities include all parks, trails, structures and open spaces owned and operated by the Parks & Recreation Department.

Redding City Hall Resolution: This resolution prohibits smoking throughout the Redding City Hall campus.

 

 

Shasta District FairShasta District Fairgrounds

Shasta District Fair Board Policy: Prohibits smoking, except in designated outdoor smoking areas, at all times and events, including the annual Shasta District Fair.

 

City of Shasta Lake

  City of Shasta Lake Smoke-free Events

Shasta Lake City Council designated events within Shasta Lake park facilities as being smoke-free on April 19, 2016.

Whiskeytown beaches  Whiskeytown National Recreation Area a Smoke-free Park

Whiskeytown Park is the first National Park Service location to go smoke-free. The Smoke-free Policy that went into effect on January 1, 2016 includes prohibiting the use of electronic smoking devices.
