Participating in Planning Commission Meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the County of Shasta is adapting the way that Planning Commission meetings are conducted. 

At this time, we are continuing to hold regularly scheduled meetings of the Planning Commission to allow the County to conduct essential business.  Modifications have been made to protect public health while still encouraging engagement from the public.

Here are ways that you can participate in Planning Commission Meetings during this time:

·  Watch a livestream of the meeting online or view the recording any time after the meeting concludes at

·  Submit public comment in writing on any agenda item or any item within the Commission’s subject matter jurisdiction, regardless of whether it is on the agenda for Commission consideration or action.  

 How to submit public comments:

To submit comments electronically before or during the meeting:

2. State "Public Comment for Planning Commission Meeting" in the subject line of your email so it is easily identifiable to staff.

Emailed comments will be accepted and read into the record throughout the duration of the meeting.  Please limit your electronic submissions to 250 words or less.

To submit comments by U.S. Mail, please forward them to the Planning Division to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. one day prior to the meeting:

In addition to the above, effective June 11, 2020, Planning Commission meetings will be open to limited in-person attendance with the following guidelines in place:

1.      In compliance with State guidelines, the Board Chambers will be limited to 25% of its maximum capacity.  This capacity includes both County staff and members of the public.

2.      Seating for members of the public shall be on a first come, first served basis. Once the available seats are filled, members of the public wishing to address the Commission may wait in line outside of the Chambers.  Individuals waiting in line shall maintain six feet of distance between themselves and others at all times.  These individuals will be allowed entry to make their comment and then must exit the room.

3.      Those entering the Board Chambers shall maintain six feet of distance between themselves and others at all times.  Individuals are also asked to wear a face covering.
