Participating in Planning Commission Meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the County of Shasta is adapting the way that Planning Commission meetings are conducted.

At this time, we are continuing to hold regularly scheduled meetings of the Planning Commission to allow the County to conduct essential business.  Modifications have been made to protect public health while still encouraging engagement from the public.

Here are ways that you can participate in Planning Commission Meetings during this time:

·  Watch a livestream of the meeting online or view the recording any time after the meeting concludes at www.co.shasta.ca.us/index/cob/meeting-videos.

·  Submit public comment in writing on any agenda item or any item within the Commission’s subject matter jurisdiction, regardless of whether it is on the agenda for Commission consideration or action.

 How to submit public comments:

To submit comments electronically before or during the meeting:

1. please email your comments to clerkoftheboard@co.shasta.ca.us

2. State "Public Comment for Planning Commission Meeting" in the subject line of your email so it is easily identifiable to staff.

Emailed comments will be accepted and read into the record throughout the duration of the meeting.  Please limit your electronic submissions to 250 words or less.

To submit comments by U.S. Mail, please forward them to the Planning Division to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. one day prior to the meeting:

Shasta County Department of Resource Management-Planning Division
1855 Placer Street, Suite 103
Redding, CA 96001

If you are unable to submit comments in writing and would like request an accommodation for accessibility, please contact the Planning Division at (530) 225-5532.

In addition to the above, effective August 13, 2020, entry to the Board of Supervisors Chambers for Planning Commission meetings by members of the public is limited as follows.

Members of the public who wish to make in-person public comment will be permitted to address the Commission one at a time to make a comment and then must exit. Speakers must wait outside of the Chambers until they are called upon, with no less than six feet of distance between themselves and others at all times. Face coverings are required inside of the Shasta County Administration Center and the Board Chambers, except when exempted by state order. There will be no seating available to the public in the Chambers.

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to consider the alternative channels for remote participation outlined above.

Thank you for helping us to protect the health of our staff and members of the public.  If you have any questions, please contact Adam Fieseler, Planning Division Manager, at (530) 225-5532.
