Participating in the Hearing

Due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the County of Shasta is adapting the way that Board of Supervisors meeting are conducted. Modifications have been made to protect public health while still encouraging engagement from the public. Members of the Board of Supervisors and County staff may participate by teleconference.

The following methods are available for persons wishing to participate:

Attend in-person: Persons wishing to address the Board in the Board Chambers are requested to fill out a Speaker Request Form and provide it to the Clerk. Speaker Request Forms are available at the following locations: (1) Online hereFountain Wind Speaker Request Form; (2) from the Clerk of the Board on the third floor of 1450 Court Street, Suite 308B, Redding; and (3) in the back of the Board Chambers. When addressing the Board in the Board Chambers, please approach the rostrum, and after receiving recognition from the Chair, give your comments.

Comment via telephone: Persons may call the conference line provided on the agenda. You will be called upon and unmuted when it is your turn to speak. If you simply want to observe the meeting and do not wish to make a comment, you do not need to call the conference line and may observe the meeting via livestream at www.co.shasta.ca.us/index/bos/meeting-agendas.

Please note: Persons wishing to speak in person during the meeting will need to submit a Speaker Request at the time of the meeting, as the Clerk of the Board does not accept Speaker Request forms in advance.  Submitting a presentation to the Clerk of the Board does not reserve a place in the public comment queue; a Speaker Request form will still need to be submitted.

Conduct of Hearing (subject to change if conditions warrant):

Applicant presentation: Up to 25 minutes* (slideshows permitted if submitted to County on or before Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Late submissions may be considered by the Chair for cause.)

Group presentations (in-person or via live phone call): Up to 15 minutes* (slideshows permitted if submitted to County on or before Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Late submissions may be considered by the Chair for cause.)

Individual speakers (in-person or via live phone call): Up to 3 minutes* (slideshows permitted if submitted to County on or before Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Late submissions may be considered by the Chair for cause.)

Applicant summation: 5-minute applicant summation/rebuttal following all speakers.

*The amount of time per speaker may be adjusted at the Chair’s discretion.

If the meeting has not concluded by 5:00 p.m., the Board may recess for a 30-minute break, and a 10-minute break every four hours thereafter, to allow for a system reboot.
