District 4 - Supervisor Steve Morgan

Steve Morgan was elected to serve as District 4 Supervisor in 2016.

Born at the Naval Hospital, Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California, Steve was raised and lived in Vallejo for 55 years. After graduating from St. Vincent High School,  Steve went to work for the Shipyard as a helper machinist. A few years later Steve joined the Submarine Naval Reserve and went on active duty in 1964 to 1966 serving on submarines.  Steve is a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Upon his return from active duty, he was offered a four-year apprenticeship as a Marine Electrician at the Shipyard. After completing his apprenticeship, Steve went to work on submarines and surface ships as a Navigation Systems Mechanic. He later rode those vessels on sea trials and worked on their navigation systems. Steve was promoted to Supervisor, working on the overhaul of nuclear and non-nuclear submarines. The crew consisted of journeymen and apprentices working three shifts, depending on the project.

In 1995, after over 32 years with the Shipyard, Steve retired and relocated to Lakeside, California with his wife, Pam.   While in Lakeside, he worked for various companies with government contracts. One of the most interesting jobs was traveling to Japan to work on U.S.  Navy Destroyers, specifically, the refrigeration systems.  While working for these various companies,  he obtained an electrical contractors license and eventually started his own business in 1995.

In 2002, Steve purchased his aunt and uncle’s house in the City of Shasta Lake. This was special because when Steve was a young boy, he lived with his aunt and uncle in Toyon during the summers.  In 2004, Steve and his wife Pam relocated permanently to the City of Shasta Lake, California.

During Steve’s semi-retirement period,  he started attending City Council meetings to gain a better understanding of City Government. That sparked Steve’s interest in volunteering for various boards and commissions. Steve has served on the Shasta Lake Fire Protection District, Shasta County Mosquito and Vector Control District, Shasta LAFCO, Shasta County Commission on Aging, City of Shasta Lake Park and Recreation Committee and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees.  He also volunteers for community sponsored events that benefit and enhance the community.

Steve and wife Pam have been married for 18 years.  They have four sons, Michael, Marc, Andrew, and Joseph.  They have seven grandchildren, Julie, Jacob, Esten, Alexis, Sophia, Catherine, and Jack.  They also have a great-grandson, DeAngelo.
