District 1 - Supervisor Joe Chimenti

Joe Chimenti

Joe Chimenti was elected to serve as District 1 Supervisor in 2018.

Joe is a husband, father of four, and a resident of Shasta County since 1996. He grew up in a law enforcement family and began his professional life as a police officer. After earning his MBA, Joe left law enforcement and joined the private sector. He spent 25 years in business development working with entrepreneurial companies across North America and in Europe.

As the former Executive Director of the Shasta Builders’ Exchange and the Trade School, Joe understands the need for a skilled workforce and the importance of the construction industry to a thriving economy. He will continue to strive to improve communication, collaboration, and innovation between government and our business community.

Supervisor Chimenti has been very active in the local community, including work with a number of organizations as listed below:

  • Redding East Rotary - President 2018-2019
  • One Safe Place: Walk a Mile in Her Shoes - Past Chair and yearly walker
  • One Safe Place - Board Member
  • Men’s Event - Host, in support of the Women’s Fund
  • City of Redding Planning Commission - Former Commissioner
  • St Joseph Parish Council - Former Council Member
  • University Preparatory School - Former Board Member
  • Oversight Committee for Measure I - SUHSD (Bond $56.9M)
  • Citizens Advisory Committee - REU & Public Works (City of Redding)

He also has education and experience in a range of areas:

  • Graduate of Leadership Redding - Class 2010
  • University of Phoenix - MBA
  • Rutgers University - BA, History & Political Science
  • Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy - Certified Police Officer

Supervisor Chimenti currently represents the County on the Shasta Regional Transportation Agency and Local Agency Formation Commission, as well as several other Board appointments:

  • California State Association of Counties (CSAC), Alternate
  • CSAC: Policy Committee: Health and Human Services
  • Community Action Board
  • Community Corrections Partnership Advisory Board

  • Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA)
  • Shasta County Children & Families Commission (aka First 5 Shasta)
  • Youth Violence Prevention Coordinating Council (dba Youth Options Shasta)
