Prevention

There are a lot of things that individuals can do to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Not sure what we're talking about? Check out our definitions below.
Word Definition
Social distancing Social distancing is a way to keep people from interacting closely or frequently enough to spread an infectious disease.
Quarantine Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who have been exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. It lasts long enough to ensure the person has not contracted an infectious disease. In the case of COVID-19, the quarantine period is 14 days.
Isolation Isolation prevents the spread of an infectious disease by separating people who are sick from those who are not. It can last as long as the disease is contagious.
Community Transmission Community transmission is a form of transmission where patients get an infectious disease without being exposed to anyone who is known to be infected and without having travelled to countries in which there is a current outbreak.
