LSNC provides free legal assistance to individuals and groups who meet income eligibility requirements and any person 60+ years. LSNC's mission is to provide quality legal services to empower the poor to identify and defeat the causes and effects of poverty within their community efficiently utilizing all available resources. LSNC specializes in the following areas of law: housing (including HUD), access to health care, public benefits, employment and education. LSNC provides an Unlawful Detainer (Eviction) clinic weekly, provides services for habitability issues, public benefits and also has a Landlord/Tenant Mediation Program that tries to assist with housing issues before an eviction begins. LSNC holds weekly clinics to assist pro per (unrepresented) litigants fill out court paperwork and navigate the legal system.

The Police Department is a general law enforcement agency which works closely with other community resources to investigate criminal activity, enforce laws, and provide security through our patrols. The Department has a strong community orientation and has implemented a number of community oriented policing programs, several of which address housing and homelessness issues. Our primary role in the homelessness issue has been to refer persons in need to the appropriate agencies, as well as helping to ensure those persons are not being discriminated against or victimized.
