Mike Skondin is a Fine Arts student at Butte Community College where he specializes in glass blowing, printmaking and water colors. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and recently moved to Chico after living in Redding for about 10 years where he was also attending Shasta College and studying fine arts.
In addition to being a student, he is full-time father for three kids who range in age from 20 years-old to 16 months. Prior to moving to the North State, he worked as a construction manager and traveled the country for work. He grew up in the Sacramento area. Since July 2015, Mike has served Shasta County as a Brave Faces advocate sharing his experiences with Post-Traumatic Stress, depression and substance abuse disorders to educate the community and reduce stigma associated with mental illness and recovery.
