Kimberly Davis has lived in Burney for 21 years and was a 2007 graduate of Burney High. She is an aspiring theater actor and formerly attended Shasta College, where she majored in theater. She is a participant and volunteer at Circle of Friends, the local drop-in center for people with mental health challenges, and she is also preparing to serve on an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
From an early age growing up in Burney, Kimberly knew she was different, and she struggled in school. After many physicians told her family nothing was wrong, she was eventually diagnosed with bipolar and dyslexia. In 2013, Kimberly suffered the shocking death of her mother to a heart attack and developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has learned to manage her mental health challenges over the years through therapy, medication, her faith and nourishing her creative passions.
Today, Kimberly has shared her story of recovery to many classes, youth groups and organizations throughout Shasta County.
