Chris Stampfli has lived in Redding since 2006 and is currently a mental health advocate who is a member of the Mental Health Services Act Academy and a Stand Against Stigma volunteer. Previously, Chris worked as a counselor for troubled youth and as a special education teacher’s aide.
Chris has presented to college and high school classes about their experiences with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, self-harm, depression and anxiety. Chris also speaks about facing discrimination when they came out as non-heterosexual (LGBTQ), which led to Chris living as a homeless youth on the streets of Los Angeles.
Chris eventually developed a strong support system and shares how therapy, medication and community involvement have helped her manage her mental health issues.
