Research shows that children are more likely to eat fruits and vegetables when they garden. School gardens provide students an opportunity to learn how fruits and vegetables grow, along with the opportunity to sample the produce fresh from the garden. Through the Healthy Students Initiative, the following school gardens were enhanced:
Bella Vista Elementary
Lassen View Elementary
If you would like to volunteer at a school garden, contact the local school to see if they have one.
