The Clerk of the Board is responsible for the preparation of the
agendas, minutes, and documents for the Board of Supervisors meetings;
communication of actions taken by the Board; maintenance of official
records for the County of Shasta; appeals to the Board of Supervisors
of Planning Commission actions; and legal advertising of upcoming
public hearings before the Board.
The Clerk of the Board provides administrative support for the Board
of Supervisors and also acts as clerk for various appeals and abatement
boards, including the Shasta County Assessment Appeals Board (County
Board of Equalization), Shasta County Employee Appeals Board, nuisance
abatement hearings, and animal control hearings. The Clerk serves as
the agent for service of process for the County.
Staff provides copies of records to the public and maintains the
Shasta County Code and the Shasta County Administrative Manual. The
Clerk of the Board also coordinates committees, commissions, and
boards appointed by the Board of Supervisors, including December
publication of an annual list of upcoming vacancies as required by the
Maddy Act. The Clerk is the filing officer for Conflict of Interest
Code forms for Shasta County and biennial notices of special districts
whose conflict of interest codes require updating.
