Mission Statement

The Shasta County Coroner´s Office has the duty to conduct complete and objective medicolegal investigations of unattended, violent, unexpected, and suspicious deaths in order to determine the cause, manner, and circumstances of death. This duty is of utmost importance to the deceased individuals and their families, the safety of our community, and the pursuit of justice. This we do with courage, compassion, and great reverence for life.

Deputy Wayne Booker presented the "Choices of Life" program to high school youth. Tours of the Coroner´s facility are offered for the purpose of preventing untimely deaths due to making wrong choices, driver safety, alcohol, drugs, and a variety of other issues. Many of the participants were referrals from the Shasta County Probation Department. The Coroner's Office hopes to expand the program to include more local high school participation.
