Mission Statement:

The Injury Prevention Coalition is a collection of local agencies and individuals committed to the prevention of unintentional injury. We are concerned about injuries that impact all Shasta County residents.

Motto: "Committed to the prevention of unintentional injury."

Purpose:

To reduce unintentional injuries, especially traffic-related injuries (the number one cause of death among children and adolescents), in Shasta County through coordinated efforts of interested organizations, community groups, and individuals.  Prevention strategies include community and parent education, provider training, youth education programs, enforcement of safety laws, and advocacy for organizational and policy changes to improve childhood safety.

Structure:

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 10 am - 12:00 noon and may include a guest speaker or special presentation by a member. Locations change monthly depending on which member organization is hosting the meeting. Public Health is the lead agency and provides office space and staff support.
