Local Child Care Planning Council
Purpose: A collaboration of local agencies to increase the quality of child care services by educating and informing providers.

The Northern Hispanic-Latino Coalition
Purpose: To improve the resources and services available to the Hispanic Community. Advocate for the Hispanic/Latino Community, Educate the community on Hispanic/Latino Cultures for a better understanding. Distribute and share information with the Hispanic/Latino Community

S.C.O.A.C.H.E. (Shasta Coalition of African/Black Americans for Community Health and Empowerment)
Purpose: S.C.O.A.C.H.E. was formed in July 2002 by Community members in conjunction with several focus groups facilitated by Shasta College and Public Health. Of eight concerns identified, three were chosen as the highest priority in the African American Community. 1. Academic Education Support; 2. Mentor Programs Support; 3. Communication.

Salvation Army Advisory Board
Purpose: To bring to the Board of Directors, as a voice for and from the community at large i.e. regards to issues, barriers, resources etc. in the community, and help to find solutions that the Salvation Army may be able to improve or even possibly change. I also am working hard to help them see the need to improve some of their own services to be more user friendly and minimize or remove barriers to the community accessing the resources.

Shasta County Oral Health Coalition, 0 to 5 Year Old Workgroup
Purpose: To address oral health issues for children ages 0 to 5.

Shasta County Sharps Disposal Task Force
Purpose: To encourage and facilitate safe sharps disposal county-wide by eliminating sharps from the solid waste stream and ensuring proper disposal of contaminated needles, syringes, and lancets to help prevent accidental exposure to Hepatitis, HIV and other diseases.

Shasta Reproductive Health Collaborative
Purpose: To promote a philosophy that provides complete and accurate information and education for the development of healthy reproductive attitudes and behaviors in our community focusing on reproductive health issues for teens and adults.

Mission Statement:
United in efforts to ensure that all people in Shasta County have enough nutritious food to eat every day.
Purpose: Shasta Food Group is a coalition of community groups, faith-based organizations, Shasta County Public Health, food assistance agencies, and others working to ensure all people in Shasta County have access to safe, affordable food. Its purpose is to (1) facilitate collaborative efforts among its members; (2) identify why people in our county have an inability to get enough nutritious food; (3) identify the effects of not having enough nutritious food; (4) implement projects/programs to increase consumption of nutritious food by food-insecure and/or low-income people; and (5) advocate for policies that increase access to healthy food for low-income people.
Structure: Shasta Food Group meets once a month on the third Wednesday from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at Shasta Senior Nutrition Program. For more information, call Deb at 229-8481.
Shasta Lake Youth Development
Purpose: To advance the involvement of youth in the community and the community awareness of youth needs.

Sierra-Cascade Regional Partnership

- Mission Statement: Throughout the Region, people will have fun and be healthy every day!
- Purpose: To facilitate communication and promote programs on nutrition and physical activity issues on the Regional level; track state legislation and legal issues which impact programs and services; share ideas and resources on program and funding issues; and to secure technical assistance and training for members on identified topics.
- Structure: Public Health Project LEAN staff provide access to bridge line phone numbers for quarterly teleconferences. Agendas are developed by members prior to each teleconference via email. Minutes are produced and distributed by Public Health staff via mail and email.
- History: The Teleconferences began in May, 2002 and are currently held quarterly.
- Funding Sources: Public Health Project LEAN staff provides administrative support to the Partnership as part of its Scope of Work funded by California Project LEAN Nutrition Network monies. Staff coordinates the calls, solicit agenda items, produce and distribute minutes, provide mailings and postage as needed, etc.
