H1N1 Vaccine

H1N1 vaccine is now available to all Shasta County residents six months of age and older, and can be found at many retail locations, such as local drug stores and grocery stores, making it more convenient than ever to get immunized. Your health care provider may also have the vaccine. Shasta County Public Health offers it free during immunization clinic hours at its main office on Breslauer Way and at its regional offices in downtown Redding, Anderson, Shasta Lake and Burney.  Enter your ZIP code above to find a clinic near you.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine

Seasonal flu vaccine is available during regular public health vaccination clinic hours. Find locations and hours or call 225-5591 or 1-800-971-1999.

People at highest risk for seasonal flu are:

  • Children aged 6 months - 18 years
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults 50 years and older
  • Persons of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
  • People who live in nursing homes and long-term care facilities
  • People who live with or care for those at high-risk for complications from flu, including: health care workers, household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu and household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to receive flu vaccine.)

You need two vaccines to be fully protected this year. The seasonal flu vaccine is different from the H1N1 flu vaccine. The seasonal flu vaccine is not expected to protect against the 2009 H1N1 flu. People who are at high risk for flu (seniors and people with certain health conditions) and smokers should also receive a pneumococcal vaccination.
