Public Health Advisory Board
In April of 2002 the Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint an advisory board to Public Health. The Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB) consists of 15 members, 10 of whom are selected from the community and five of whom represent each of the Board of Supervisors.
The Advisory Board's purpose is to advise and assist the Department in its efforts to address the issues affecting the health of the community. This encompasses a variety of activities including, acting as ambassadors from and to the community, looking at strengths and gaps in the local community health system, recommending policies that improve local health outcomes and providing recommendations on the Department's strategies, goals and annual budget.
As Public Health steps up to meet the challenges of the 21st century, the Public Health Advisory Board will be there to act as both a voice from the community and an ambassador for Public Health. For more information on the Public Health Advisory Board, contact 229-8484.
