Every day at the Health and Human Services Agency, people walk through our doors in need of help. Whether it's financial aid, medical insurance, nutrition, housing or counseling, you look to us to help you receive the assistance that you need. The Resource Guide will help you find direct services provided by the Health and Human Services Agency.

CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) helps people who receive public assistance find and keep jobs. CalWORKs provides temporary cash aid and employment services to needy families with children. The program offers supportive services, including child care, transportation and other services necessary to help you move from welfare to work. Our Job Center has all the resources you need to look for a job.
.Food stamps - the healthy choice
You may qualify for food stamps - even if you work full-time, are elderly or disabled or are enrolled in college. Find out more about food stamps and how they can help you maintain a healthy diet, and then see if you might be eligible to receive food stamps. Then fill out this application form. Note - if you receive SSI/SSP in California, you are not eligible to supplemental food assistance because that's included with your Social Security benefits.
Shasta County Adult Protective Services (APS)helps keep older and dependent adults safely in their homes. APS can help provide food, clothing, shelter and medical needs. APS social workers are on call 24 hours for emergencies. Click here to learn more.Elder Abuse Prevention
