The Public Guardian helps people through conservatorship, which protects and cares for the conservatee by providing support including housing or hospitalization, medical care and psychiatric treatment. A conservator is appointed by the court to manage the personal and/or financial needs of someone who is declared to be lacking the capacity to properly provide for those needs alone. The Public Guardian acts as a conservator when no other potential conservator or alternative to conservatorship can be found.
