Picture of the Job Center entranceThe Job Center is located in the CalWORKs office at 1400 California Street in downtown Redding, California. The Job Center is a great resource that thousands of CalWORKs clients have used while seeking employment.

 

 

Computers that are available for employment search in the Job CenterFurnished with five computer workstations, clients are able to access the Internet to conduct their own occupational and/or work search. Various online sites are accessible that clients can use to discover information about occupations, wages, interests, skills, educational programs and more. With the WinWay Resume® writing program, clients are able to create their own resumes and cover letters quickly and professionally. Friendly staff answer questions and assist as needed. A homepage is also maintained to provide easy access to internet-based resources for job seeking, labor market information, occupational information, education and training, and much more. Other resources for job search available at The Job Center include:

  • use of a telephone, copier, printer, fax machine, typewriter and DVD/VCR.
  • access to the lending library for occupational books, DVDs, videotapes and audio cassettes.
  • resume paper and envelopes on quality stock.
  • information regarding specific life issues such as housing, transportation, childcare, education/learning, goal setting, legal and health issues, support systems, personal assets and time management.
  • information on an effective job search such as job search tips, interviewing tips, helpful resume tips, application tips, thank you letters and cover letters.
  • weekly job listings posted on the Job Wall.
  • access to the local newspaper, including the Help Wanted Ads.
  • application forms for some of Shasta County’s major employers.
  • occupational, educational, and Labor Market Information.
