The Shasta County CalWORKs
Behavioral Health Team (BHT) provides support to all residents on
public assistance. The services are free and confidential.
The
program staff are committed to helping those on public assistance
to become self sufficient by reducing the barriers to employment.
Stress, grief, depression, emotional problems, substance abuse,
domestic violence, parenting issues, mental health, relationship
issues and other pressures of daily life can all become barriers
to getting and keeping a job.
The BHT offers professional client centered services: screening
and assessment, counseling, advocacy, referrals, therapy, and support.
Time spent participating in BHT activities may be applied to the
hours of participation required by CalWORKs. These hours may include
appointments with the BHT staff as well as hours spent at other
programs/agencies when they are part of the BHT Service Plan.
The Behavioral Health staff are located at the main CalWORKs offices
on California Street, in the Social Services - Cascade Building
on Breslauer Way, and at the Children and Family Services on Yuba
Street. The program is a partnership between the Shasta County Department
of Social Services, Shasta County Department of Mental health, Shasta
County Alcohol and Drug Programs, Shasta County Women's Refuge,
Right Roads Treatment Center in Anderson and Burney, and Empire
Recovery Program in Shasta Lake City.
