State Disbursement Unit (SDU)
Federal law requires states to have a single entity responsible for collecting and processing child support payments. California has accrued more than $750 million in federal penalties for not having a statewide, automated system for tracking child support payments. California is meeting this federal requirement by implementing the State Disbursement Unit (SDU). Click here for more information.

Director's Corner
Welcome to the Shasta County Department of Child Support Services' website. Our goal is to provide you, the customer, with information and service in a fast, fair, and friendly manner using the resources at our disposal and within the parameters of the California Family Law.
If you are a parent of a child, you know that you have a moral and legal responsibility to provide for your child, not only physically and emotionally, but also financially to the extent of your ability to do so. A major part the Child Support Services' mission is to ensure that every parent involved in a child support case in Shasta County is participating in the financial support of his or her child(ren). Court orders for child support are calculated pursuant to the California Child Support guideline established by the legislature. It is important to the child(ren), as well as the parents, to establish and enforce a child support order that is fair to the noncustodial parent (payor) as well as the custodial parent (payee).
When you visit our office or are requested to provide information by telephone or mail, we can better serve you if you provide us with complete, accurate information about yourself and the other parent of your child(ren). Working together we can help ensure that today's children are provided with the parental support to grow into tomorrow's citizens and leaders.
